More than 500 people have braved through the early morning rain today at the Pearl of Africa Primary School Nsambya to take part in the NSSF Kampala Hash Sevens Run.

The Run is intended to raise Shs240 million to rehabilitate selected schools managed by the Kampala Capital City Authority.

According to the NSSF Managing Director Richard Byarugaba, NSSF prides itself in helping the less privileged in society and it’s for that reason that the Fund is intended to improve sanitation in KCCA schools.

According to KCCA records, only 43% of KCCA schools meet the recommended pupil – toilet ratio.

This years funds will benefit over 40 primary schools over the next 3 years.

Participants ran 21km and traversed the seven hills of Kampala namely; Nakasero, Kibuli, Old Kampala, Namirembe, Rubaga, Lubiri and Nsambya.

Last year, over sh131m was raised from the run and all the proceeds went to the renovation of Makerere University Primary School, Summit View Army Primary School and completion of works at Nakivubo Settlement Primary School.

Over 20 companies including Monitor publications have participated and made contributions towards this run.
