Five people have so far died of hunger in the last one month in Moroto district.

This is according to Kambisi village LC1 chairperson Haji Pamita.

He identifies the dead as Mary Loumo, Alemus, Paul Lote, Anna Nakoroi, Tereza Akolong and John Lomuria.

Pamita said many other people are grounded in their houses.

Haji Akida Lokure the LC1 chairperson for Campshwailichini in Moroto Municipality said many of his residents who used to crack stones for survival are longer doing it because of hunger.

The Member of Parliament for Moroto Municipality, Simon Peter Aleper confirmed the deaths describing it as unfortunate.

He said they have written several letters to the office of the prime minister but all in vain.
