The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission chairman has scoffed at those calling for his resignation.
A section of NRM supporters including state lands minister Aidah Nantaba have asked Dr.Tanga Odoi to step aside for alleged failure to organize credible primary elections.
Yesterday’s NRM primaries were marred by widespread violence, chaos and protests which led to the cancellation and postponement of the exercise in many parts of the country, which some blamed on Odoi’s incompetence.
However, addressing the media at the party headquarters this afternoon, Odoi has described those calling for his resignation as insane.

Dr. Odoi instead said that yesterday’s was the most credible election the NRM has ever had, adding that lessons have been picked from mistakes that may have been made.
