IMF chief challenges government to prioritize addressing social needs.

The IMF managing director Christine Lagarde has challenged the Ugandan government to prioritize addressing social needs.

She was addressing a joint press conference with president Museveni at statehouse Entebbe this afternoon.

Ms Lagarde said while government has made strides in poverty reduction, peace and improving standards of living, social needs like health and education need more attention.

She further challenges government on accountability and efficiency in addition to improving the business environment.

Meanwhile President Museveni applauded IMF for its contribution towards Uganda’s economic recovery further expressing government’s commitment to improving infrastructure, education and health
