Japanese Government Pledges More Support
The Japanese Ambassador to Uganda has pledged more support to vocational education as another way of empowering more jobless youths to acquire practical skills.
Speaking at the 5th graduation ceremony of Datamine Technical Business School in Kampala, HE: Kazuaki Kameda, the Ambassador of Japan to Uganda, says that support his Government has been giving Uganda over years has made some impact in the vocational education sub sector which he said has to be sustained.
He says that that Japan has been providing assistance to Uganda’s technical education through multiple development cooperation schemes which he said has greatly helped to skill and expand the human resource work force in the country.
He says Japan will continue to assist Uganda in this field as one of the joint efforts for Uganda to achieve the middle income status by 2020.
Hon Mathias Mpuga, The managing Director of Datamine Technical Business School says that they have changed the image and attitude people had about technical and vocational studies imploring youths that are seeking for jobs to go technical schools to get technical skills because they will help them start their own jobs.
Over 374 students graduated with certificates and diplomas in various disciplines including journalism, fashion and design, information technology and business management among others.
