By Damali Mukhaye.

The Kampala Capital City Authority boss Ms Jenipher Musisi has urged the property owners in Kampala to comply with the new property tax rates announced recently by the authority.

This is after a number of property owners vowed to close down their buildings on grounds that KCCA had increased the property tax by three fold after a property valuation exercise that was conducted by the valuation court last month.

Ms Musisi says the authority has only imposed a 6% levy on the money they receive from their buildings, which she says is far lower than the rate charged by other municipalities and local governments.

She adds that those who were not satisfied with the valuation have already petitioned the city hall valuation court and their complaints are being heard.
