Nomination for candidates vying for the Jinja Municipality East Parliamentary seat continues today with four more people expected.

The two-day exercise which started yesterday saw two candidates successfully nominated including NRM’s Nathan Igeme Nabeta and FDC’s Paul Mwiru.

The Electoral Commission public relations officer Charles Ochola tells KFM that those expected today are Moses Nagaya of the Uganda Federal Alliance, Democratic Party’s Alex Waiswa as well a independents; Majid Batambuze and Joseph Lukyamuzi.

The Jinja East Municipality parliamentary seat fell vacant after court nullified the election of Nabeta over voter bribery and lack of adequate academic qualification.

Campaigns officially begin on January 16th, ahead of the bi election scheduled for February 9th.
