High Court in Kampala presided over by Justice Isaac Muwata has set 15th May 2024 for hearing the second application filed by Ms Molly Katanga, the widow of business man Henry Katanga, seeking to be released on bail pending hearing of a murder case against her.

On April 9th 2024, the same Judge denied Ms Katanga bail on grounds that she is not too old to be in jail and that the medical officers from prison had not informed court that they could not manage her medical condition from their facilities.

Ms Katanga, 54 was arrested and charged with the murder of her husband on November, 2nd 2023 at the couple’s home situated along Chwa 11 Road in Mbuya, in Kampala’s Nakawa Division.

In her second bail application, Ms. Katanga, through her lawyers from Kampala Associated Advocates and Tumusiime, Kabega and Company Advocates, attached the medical form from Luzira Prison indicating that she suffers from fibrotic breast masses and hypertension.

She earlier presented 4 sureties including health state minister in-charge of Primary Health Care Margret Muhanga, Dr. Patrick Kaboya, General Emmanuel Burundi and Geoffrey Kamuntu.

The widow awaits trial alongside her 2 daughters; Patricia Kakwanza and Martha Nkwazi who are charged with destroying valuable evidence that would have been used in court to prove their father’s murder, the family’s shamba boy George Amanyire and Charles Otai a nurse – all charged with being accessories after the murder.
