Kampala Capital City Authority is to spend Shs9.5 billion on recruitment of health workers for Kiruddu and Kawempe hospitals in the next financial year.

While appearing before the Presidential Affairs Committee yesterday, the authority’s Executive Director Jennifer Musisi said these two hospitals require 1000 new staff due to the overwhelming numbers of patients.

Next financial year KCCA has a total wage bill of Shs64.5 billion some of which is to be spent on covering the shortfalls in salaries for teachers and health workers.

Musisi disclosed that the recruitment process has already been initiated and the positions will be filled once funds are availed.
