Former Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta has asked the current leadership of the country to embrace dialogue to end the ongoing countrywide protests.

Protests have rocked the country for days as demonstrators express their rage against what they describe as punitive tax contained in the Finance Bill, 2024.

“Leaders must know that power and the authority they have is donated to them by the people of Kenya,” Former Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta in a press statement.

In a press statement issued last evening, Kenyatta says the current leaders were elected by people whom they have no choice but to listen to.

“As your former president, I have felt the weight and the difficulty of leading. I therefore pray for wisdom and civility to be established and for peace progress to belong to all of us as children of Kenya”, Former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta in a press statement.

He emphasizes that for calm to return to the country the leadership should show restraint listen to people’s demands.
