Lawyers and Civil Society Organizations in northern Uganda have tasked officials at the International Court Criminal Court(ICC) to offer adequate protection to witnesses in the charges brought against former LRA commander Dominic Ongwen.
The call comes as Ongwen, appears before the ICC at The Hague for the confirmation of 70 charges in relation to his alleged participation in war crimes and crimes against humanity on civilians in northern Uganda.
Gulu based Human Rights lawyer Henry Komakech Kilama, says failure to guarantee witness protection will affect presentation of evidence..
Ongwen charges are derived from his attacks on Internally Displaced Camps in Pajule, Abok, Odek and Lukodi.
