learning outcomes still very low nationally

David Kugonza | December 16, 2016

This is contained in the latest Uwezo report released this morning in Kampala which reveals that only 3 out of 10 pupils in P3 – P7 are able to read an English story and do division.

Presenting the report findings, UWEZO Executive Director Dr. Goretti Naakabugo said there are also huge disparities in the learning outcomes of pupils in urban areas as compared to their counterparts in rural areas.

She says literacy and numeracy competencies have remained consistently better for urban pupils.

Dr. Nakabugo adds that says there is a 10% difference in performance with 35% P3-P7 pupils in rural compared to 56% pupils in urban areas were able to read and understand an English story.
