Eight pupils of Burambi Primary School in Ishaka division Bushenyi district are struck dead by lightning.

This has been confirmed by the Resident District Commissioner Hajji Isac Kawoya who visited the school soon after an afternoon down pour.

Kawoya says a visit to the Primary School revealed that it lacked lightning conductors urging the school management committees and administration to quickly install where they are not in every school.

He explained that a similar incident occurred at Bunyarigi Primary School in Ruharo Model village on July 10th but no deaths were reported.

The head teacher Burambi Primary School Peace Kyobutungi identified the deceased as Nanson Nuwamanya, Junior Nuwahereza, Agnes Muhisenta and another only identified as Aston.

The others are Hiraly Tumusiime and Grace Ainembabazi all of them Primary Seven pupils.

Those from Primary Six are Annita Niwandinda and Comfort Akampurira.

Bushenyi RDC Kawoya says the school and the entire district leadership will tomorrow conduct special prayers for the deceased before the relatives take the bodies for burial.

Kawoya further revealed that ten pupils were admitted at Kampala International Teaching Hospital and are receiving treatment.
