A police officer identified as Francis Tindebwa, attached to Kyegegwa Central Police Station has succumbed to injuries he sustained after a mentally ill man pelted stones at him.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says the incident happened at Kyegegwa central police station when the mentally ill suspect charged at Tindebwa.

Tindebwa was deployed as a station guard when the suspect, one Ronald Kasirye known as Kasolo, pelted a stone on his head and he sustained a crack on his skull.

He was transferred to Mulago hospital in Kampala for better management from where he was pronounced dead.
