In Agago district in Northern Uganda, a -47- year -old man has committed suicide over unfair land distribution by his father.

The deceased has been identified as Mathew Obot, a resident of Olenyo West village, Adilang sub-county in Agago district.

LC III chairman of Adilang sub-county, Mohammed Okwir said Obot reportedly was not satisfied with how his father had split land among his brothers.

According to Okwir, after the land was split, Obot became a recluse. He later hanged himself on Tuesday.

Okwir has condemned the act and urged locals to seek alternative ways of addressing land disputes.
