Management discusses schedules when university opens

Makerere university management has proposed a tight schedule on how the university will run once it reopens.

Speaking to Kfm, the deputy vice chancellor finance and administration Professor Barnabas Nawangwe has said that if the university council sits and decides that the university be opened, classes will resume on 2nd of January 2017.

He notes that at the closure of the university, they were left with six weeks to complete the semester.

He says should they open soon, they will take off six weeks to do the exams, break off for one week and start the second semester.

Meanwhile, he says the graduation will be rescheduled towards end of February and early march.

On Monday, the lecturers under Makerere University Academic Staff Association voted to call off their strike, which saw the President issue a directive for the closure of the university on November 1^st this year.
