Manchester United’s global charge shows no sign of slowing as they announced record revenue of more than £515million – second only to Barcelona.

They have become the first English club to break the half-a-billion barrier in a single year, with record profit of £68m. The La Liga champions posted revenue of £571m earlier this year.

United’s biggest rise came commercially, in no small part down to the huge sponsorship agreement with Adidas and adding 14 new partners to their portfolio across the world.

In a year when it won the FA Cup, the Old Trafford club also signed 14 sponsorship deals, and saw commercial, matchday and TV revenues all rise.

It is now predicting 2017 revenues of up to £540m, even though it is not in the Champions League this season.

Under new boss Jose Mourinho they are currently third in the Premier League.
