Preparations for former premier and presidential hopeful Amama Mbabazi’s second visit to Mbale town are in high gear despite police’s repeated warnings against the same.
Police Chief Gen Kale Kayihura has reiterated his resolve to stop the presidential hopeful from proceeding with his countrywide consultative meetings until he is cleared by the NRM party.
The usually quiet Mbale town is abuzz with activity as night meetings continue to be held in people homes.
This comes barely two days after the Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura issued another warning to Mbabazi that any attempt to forcefully carry out his consultative meetings before his party endorses him, will meet firm and stern action from the police.
Its however, not yet clear when Mbabazi plans his next visit to Mbale.
On July 9, police blocked Mbabazi and the opposition’s Forum for Democratic Change candidate Dr Kizza Besigye from going to their campaign meetings in Mbale and Kasangati in Wakiso district respectively.
