The joint security team that includes Military Police have taken over security of all arcade rooftops.

According to the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, following CCTV footage analysis in recent days, security personnel on ground have been targeted by unscrupulous people at arcade rooftops.

Onyango says in such incidents, a one Elijah Mukiibi has succumbed to gunshot wounds inflicted on him by security officers.

He maintains the move is NOT aimed at intimidating Ugandans in anyway.

Onyango has also singled out an incident that happened along Nabukeera Auto parts arcade where officers on ground were allegedly pelted with stones.

Meanwhile, the chairperson Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) Everest Kayondo says they are okay with the development as it’s intended to strengthen security.
