By Samuel Ssebuliba.

In a move meant to boost export trade, the Ministry of Trade plans to introduce contract farming in Uganda.

In the national the road map to attain middle income status by 2020, export trade has been singled out as the ultimate game changer that will help the country achieve this target.

Speaking to KFM, Ambassador Julius Onen the Permanent Secretary ministry of trade said under this program, government will coordinate with farmers to produce certain goods that have market abroad and pay them in advance.

He adds that many local producers and farmers still lack the will to engage in export trade, which prompted government to stimulate them by contracting them.
