The ministry of health has promised to scale up cervical cancer screening as the country joins the rest of the world to mark the World Cancer Day.

The senior health educationist Lilian Luwaga says they have rolled out a plan for community outreaches about cervical cancer screening.

Luwaga adds that they also intend to roll out Human Papilloma vaccine to most parts of the country this year in a bid to prevent adolescent girls from contracting the virus.

According to the ministry of health atleast 2,400 women die from cervical cancer in Uganda and over 3,500 more are diagnosed with the disease annually.
