By Moses Ndhaye.

Mobile Money Agents have asked members of parliament to consult widely before passing the newly proposed 0.5% tax levy on Mobile Money.

A group of Mobile Money Agents led by a one Habib Kisingo says, if legislators need to also consider consulting Mobile Money agents if they are to come up with a better informed decision.

Kisingo says the business is now headed for ruins as many agents continue leaving the once thriving business.

He says many mobile money dealers are incurring immense losses ever since the tax was introduced adding that even the proposed 0.5% should be scrapped off.

Government is set to review the tax taking into consideration the concerns of the public after it reduced the tax from 1% to 0.5% but on only withdraws.
