Members of parliament have come up to show interest in the speakership seat.

Among those positioning for this seat according to sources include the deputy speaker Anita Among and Terego East County MP Obiga Kania, Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees  Hillary Onek, the Minister of State for Sports  Obua Hamson, and MP Dokolo South County  Felix Okot Ogong.

Others include Lwemiyaga county MP Theodore Ssekikubo and Bbale county MP Charles Tebandeke.

Ssekikubo says all the NRM members who tried to contest for the speakership seat last time were rewarded with ministerial posts but he was left out.

Kiira Municipality Ibrahim Semujju Nganda adds that although he might not stand for this post this time, at least the opposition should get a candidate for this post through a dialogue.

He says he is consulting the Leaders of Opposition Mpuuga Mathias to see whether the opposition can strike a balance without any competition like last time.
