The MTV Music Awards (MAMAs) have been postponed to a later date that will be communicated.

According to the MTV Base social media accounts, the fans will be updated about the much anticipated MAMAs.

”MTV Base is postponing the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards. We will keep fans updated as we have more news,” read the tweet.

The awards faced a lot of criticism on social media mainly because they were being held  at a time when Uganda, which is the host country was going through tough times.

Many people on social media asked the organizers to condemn most the internet shutdown, kidnappings and murders before carrying out the event in the country.

The reason for postponement has not been highlighted by MTV. The awards were organized by the Uganda Tourism Board.
