Government is to give financial assistance to the families of those who lost their lives in the Namungoona fire.

Paying a courtesy visit to the victims at Mulago hospital, President Museveni described the incident as unfortunate.

He also urged the youths to support government initiatives meant to fight unemployment which cause such desperate actions.

He said many youths in Rubaga division where the incident happened have opposed government initiatives and resorted to betting.

35 people died when a fuel tanker exploded at Namungoona on Saturday night.

Earlier, the President visited the scene of the accident at Namungoona, where he addressed residents and appealed to them to always keep a clear distance from the fuel tankers.

He said it’s unfortunate that people continue to perish in such accidents with no less learnt from precious events.

At Mulago Hospital, confusion reigned today as more relatives and friends continued to flood the hospital in search of the bodies of their loved ones.

Only 17 out the 29 bodies that were taken to hospital have been identified so far.
