New ministers sworn in

President
Yoweri Museveni has warned ministers against unnecessary travel and absconding
from cabinet meetings.

The minister made the warning at the swearing in of the new ministers at a function held at Entebbe state house.

He
expressed concern that many of the ministers do not attend cabinet meetings and
do not even bother to inform or seek permission from the Vice President or
Prime Minister who chair the Cabinet.

He
says he is to issue very strict instructions to ensure that cabinet ministers
attend their meetings on Wednesday and if they are to be away they must seek permission
from the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile
the president has advised the ministers to avoid unnecessary travel and utilize
ambassadors or undersecretaries to represent them abroad.

The
Oaths were administered by the Secretary to cabinet John Mitala and Permanent
Secretary/Deputy Secretary to Cabinet V. Opio-Lukone.

Those
sworn in today included Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere General Duties in the Office of
the Prime Minister, Frank Tumwebaze in charge of the Presidency and Kampala
Capital City Authority, Richard Todwong Minister without Portfolio in-charge of
Political Mobilization and Kasule Lumumba who was elevated to chief whip.

Others
are Shem Bagaine Minister of State for East African Affairs, Ernest Kiiza
(Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs, Gabriel Ajedra  Minister of State for Investment, Sarah
Kataike Ndoboli Minister of State for Health, Nantaba Aidah Minister of State
for Lands and Rosemary Najjemba Minister of State for Urban Development.

The
ceremony was attended by the Vice President Kiwanuka Ssekkandi, the Chief
Justice Benjamin Odoki, the deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanya and the
Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi among others.
