A 28 year-old woman who dropped out of school 12 years ago due to pregnancy has gone back to school.

Vick Driciru a resident of Poi village in Maracha district who has been married since 2003 has now left marriage and started school at Yivu Senior secondary school in senior two.

Driciru has a child with a man she is related to and consequently was dismissed from school.

After staying with her parents for two years, Driciru also conceived to the same man for the second time.

After another five years at her parents’ home, Driciru got married to a primary school teacher with whom she produced one baby girl.

Florence Badaru the Senior Woman Teacher of Yivu secondary school, said:Driciruis doing well at school and now an inspiration to other students.

Her story is just one of the many untold stories as we celebrate the day of the African child running under the theme“25 Years after the Adoption of the African Children’s Charter: Accelerating our Collective Efforts to End Child Marriage in Africa.
