Sixteen teams today start the fight for $1.5 million dollars available for the Afcon winner.
The teams at the 30th edition of the tournament in Equatorial Guinea will share a total of 10 million dollars.
While the losing finalist wins a million dollars.
This is according to a special Caf media guide for the games, which also says the other two semi-finalists will have $750,000 each.
The eight quarter-finalists are each guaranteed $600,000 while third-placed teams in each of the first round groups will get $500,000 each.
Bottom teams get $400,000 each.
The opening game is between hosts Equatorial Guinea and Congo in in Bata later today.
The other game is between Burkina Faso and Gabon.

However, according to Super Sport, ivory Coast’s ever-present national supporters group are bemoaning their inability to secure visas to travel in time for the Afcon.
The Ivorian National Committee of Supporters , known for their rhythmically correct choreography amid dancing and singing in support of the Elephants at international tournaments, have been preparing feverishly to travel to Equatorial Guinea for the Afcon.
They however, are in the dark over being able to set off in time due to complexity in visa procedures.
This national supporters group has been operating for more than 30 years receiving support from the Ivorian Sports Ministry.
