240 medals issued at the 53rd Independence day celebrations

Over 240 medals have been given out during the 53rd independence celebrations in Gulu.

The chairman of the Awards Committee, EllyTumwinesays these were in 3 categories including Golden Jubilee anniversary independence medal, Nalubaale and Luwero.

He says these were in appreciation for the different contribution towards the liberation struggle and development with 235 for the Golden Jubilee medal 7 for Nalubaale medal and 1 Luweero Triangle medal.

Those awarded the Golden Jubilee include, Arch bishop J.B Odama, Retired Bishop Ochola Baker 2, EALA speaker Dan Kidega and sportsman Solomon Mutai among others.

Journalists were also among those who were awarded and included Toya Kilama, Peter Swelikeikisa, and Bert Kakooza among others.
