The 2 concerned citizens; John Robert Tukyakira and Anthony Odur are accusing the both the tele-companies and URA of illegally and erroneously collecting this tax.

The two petitioners claim the collection of this tax is an infringement of the citizen’s fundamental rights guaranteed in the Constitution.

They also claim the tele-communication companies cannot ably account for the illegally collected money from depositors on behalf of URA.

They now ask court to issue a permanent injunction restraining URA and the 3 tele-communication companies; Airtel, MTN and Africel from collecting taxes from Mobile money depositors.
