The ambassador of the Democratic Republic Congo to Uganda Jean Pierre Massala has appealed to all M23 ex combatants still in Uganda to consider returning home.

The call was made as the ambassador saw off a group of close to 70 ex combatants including their dependents who voluntarily decided to go back home.

At least 200 ex-combatants are reportedly still in Bihanga camp in Ibanda District in western Uganda.

The Ambassador is optimistic that more will volunteer to return to their country to contribute to its building under the new leadership.

In 2012, more than 1,000 M23 fighters fled into Uganda after they defeated by a joint force of the UN and DR Congo government troops
