The police have said that preliminary investigations indicate that the incident that saw the Principal Judge Dr. Flavian Zeija’s convoy reportedly attacked by unidentified gun men last Saturday was a random Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion.

The said attack happened while on his way to Kampala at Kalendezi village, Buwama in Mpigi District.

Yesterday in a statement, the Judiciary had stated that Dr. Zeija’s convoy was shot at claims that police spokesperson Fred Enanga dismissed as baseless.

Addressing journalists at the police headquarters in Naguru this morning, Enanga said that a technical team from Counter Terrorism, CMI, Forensics, responded and condoned off the scene and later established that the said devices had been planted at a remote area in Kalandezi village.

He says there is no evidence that the assailants who planted the random IED targeted the principal judge or any government official.

He has meanwhile urged motorists to be on the lookout for undetonated IED.
