The family of battered Television Journalist Andrew Lwanga says it needs over $50,000 (about Sh174m) to fly him abroad for a spinal cord treatment.
Lwanga’s mother Jennifer Lwanga told journalists after today’s court session at Buganda Road Court that her son’s nervous system was badly damaged to the extent that he can neither sit nor stand without support following a brutal assault on him by the interdicted Old Kampala police station Division Police Commander(DPC) Joram Mwesigye in February last year.

Lwanga was assaulted while he covered a peaceful protest by  group of unemployed youth called the “Poor Youth”.
The family says Lwanga’s condition is deteriorating with every passing day and they have lost hope that Doctors here can handle his case.
Grade one Magistrate James Eremye adjourned the case to 4th February for prosecution to present its witness.
