The case against FDC Party President Col. Kiiza Besigye has been adjourned to 2.00pm today, due to the absence of his lawyers.

The adjournment has been granted by Nabweru grade one magistrate Justine Atukwasa, who is sitting in Nakasongora.

Besigye’s lawyers did not travel to Nakasongora saying they had not received formal communication to the effect that the hearing was being shifted from Nabweru.

Speaking to KFM, David Mpanga one of the advocates said there were claims that a formal letter was written to the lawyers but said they hadn’t received it.

The magistrate has now adjourned the case to the afternoon to give Besigye time to consult his lawyers.

Dr. Besigye was last week charged with holding an unlawful assembly with intent to breach peace and cause disharmony during the Walk to Work campaign.

The court however did not hear his bail application after the magistrate said she had prior commitments.

It remains unclear if the lawyers will be travelling to Nakasongora for hearing of the application.
