Besigye appeared at Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court this morning amid tight security for mention of the treason charges that he is currently battling.

Once the state concludes its investigations, Besigye will be committed to the High Court to stand trial at the next convenient criminal session

The opposition leader is accused of swearing-in himself as president following the disputed February 18 general elections at unknown location.

His alleged swearing-in ceremony was captured on a video clip that went viral on social media on May 11, the eve of President Museveni’s swearing-in function for the fifth elective term in office.
