Bidco Uganda Ltd has donated products and cash worth Shs 620 million to the Covid-19 National Task Force to help vulnerable Ugandans during the lockdown.
While handing over the donations to the task force committee at the office of the President on Tuesday morning, the head of human resource and corporate affairs Henry Tumusiime said they were heeding to the president’s call on private entities to help their needy customers during this period.
He said that the company had donated Shs7 million in cash, three trucks of their products- each with 27 tones and 1 brand new Mazda truck valued at Shs144.7 million.
Meanwhile, other groups including the Bar Owners Association have donated 560 cartons of milk to be distributed to expectant mothers, 200 cartons of water and 10 pieces of 100 liter water tanks.
The chairperson of the association Tessfalem Gherativ said that although the bars were closed in March, they have managed to collect Shs16 million from 100 bars and restaurants across the country towards this noble cause.
