Bombo accident death toll hits 7

The death toll from the Bombo morning accident has risen to seven.
This is after two more victims died from Mulago referral hospital where they had been rushed for treatment.
The latest victim to succumb to death has been identified as Susan Akello attached to Lira prison, while another man remains unidentified.
The early morning accident that occurred near Bombo town at Kalule along the Kampala- Gulu highway involved a bus and a trailer truck.

The bus belonging to Gaga bus company reg. number UAL 158Z was heading to Kampala from Lira when it rammed into a stationed trailer truck laden with grain.
8 other victims are still admitted at the hospital, some of them in critical condition.
They include Aisha Bin Abdu, Ajack Santa, Bosco Odida, one Joan Kia, George Oculi, Christine Limala and others only identified as Bisasso and Amos.
According to doctors in causality ward, the victims sustained serious fractures, deep head and chest injuries as well as broken limbs.
Some of the victims are being taken to the theater for surgery.
Earlier, 5 were confirmed dead at the scene of the accident.

They have been identified as one Okello the bus driver, Betty Odola a prison warder in Lira and Isaac Ajala.

The others are Emmanuel Lwanga a police officer attached to Kalule Police Post who was guarding the stationed trailer and Dennis Anguru.

The police say it is too early to establish the cause of the accident but investigations are already going on.
