Bus rams into procession killing one student

A student of St. Charles Lwanga Kasasa Secondary School has died on spot and 3 others are critically injured this evening following an accident at Lukaya along the Kampala- Masaka high way.

The accident occurred when a speeding Kampala-bound bus knocked the students during a procession to mark 100 years of the Uganda Police Force.

The students were matching with the police through Kalungu Town council to Lukaya when the bus rammed into them.

The deceased has been identified as Helen Ngabire a senior four student while the critically injured students are Patricia Ndagire, Maweje David, Waswa Francis and Tamale Gabriel.

According to Kalangu Resident District Commissioner Shafik Ssekandi the bus registration number UAL 779 U belongs to Safari Coach Company.

Southern Regional Police spokesperson Noah Serunjoji blames the accident on over speeding.
