The minister for ICT and information Frank Tumwebaze has proposed setting up a certified training school for journalists.

The proposal comes as several newsrooms continue to employ staff that does not necessarily qualify as journalists.

Speaking shortly after receiving the UBC Review Committee Report, Tumwebaze said it would be wrong to dismiss staff who who are not qualified as journalists but have other qualifications.

He is however optimistic that with such a school in place staff would be equipped with journalistic skills, urging individual journalists to seek more training and improve not just their self- worth but quality of service as well.
