Construction works at the former park yard market area has commenced despite the opposition from the Kampala Capital City Authority political wing and traders’ efforts to secure a court order halting the process.

The city authority council last month halted any construction on the piece of located right next to St Balikuddembe market, saying KCCA had not approved any development plan and that the eviction of vendors was done illegally.

However, the works are ongoing with the first floor about to be completed.

The city Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago tells KFM that there is nothing they can do now since Ham Kiggundu the said developer has always acted with impunity

Meanwhile, Kiggundu has always maintained that court cleared him to re-develop the land.
