The army court martial sitting in Bundibugyo district has withdrawn charges against 126 persons accused of masterminding the July 5th attacks in the Rwenzori region.

These had been charged with murder, attempted murder and unlawful acquisition of fire arms on 15th July.

The charges have been withdrawn after the state prosecutor lost interest on the cases on grounds that these were not the masterminds of the Rwenzori attacks and had since applied for government amnesty.

The UPDF 2nd Division Spokesperson Maj. Ronald Kakurungu says among those acquitted is the deputy prime minister of Rwenzuru kingdom Misairi Mukwenda.

He however says the court Martial in Kasese will continue with cases of 54 other suspects who were arrested in Kasese on the same charges.
