The ministry of health has confirmed a new case of covid-19 bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 55.
According to Doctor Henry Mwebesa , the director general of health services, a total of 625 samples were tested yesterday at the Uganda virus research institute.
Out of these, 372 were from truck drivers at the border points of entry while 253 were from contacts in the community.
He says the confirmed case is of a 38 year old Ugandan male cargo transporter who arrived from Kenya via Malaba on April 12th, 2020.
As of today, Uganda has 55 confirmed cases and 8 recoveries.
According to the ministry of health figures, a total of 5,664 cases have been tested, 231 individuals are under institutional quarantine, 729 are contacts to confirmed cases and are under follow up, and 1,302 cumulative contacts were listed.
