Professor Patrick Ogwang the inventor of Covidex, a Covid-19 treatment supplementary herbal remedy has filed a trademark application at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).

According to the bureau, the application for the product listed as a herbal medical drug was filed on June 18th and a gazette state notice published on 28th June.

Just days after the government approved Covidex as a supplementary remedy for the treatment of viral infections, a Lawyer, George Alenyo last week sued Professor Ogwang challenging his ownership of the innovation.

Alenyo is joined in the suit by the Christian Chamber of Commerce, Agriculture, Industry, Trade and Tourism which seeks to fight criminality, corruption and to promote access to companies’ data worldwide so as to enable people to know who they are working with or working for.
