The party president Nobert Mao has told a news conference that the government needs to prioritise and increase investment in financing, production and value addition if they want the country to reach the middle income status by 2020.

Last week parliament revealed that government will lose Shs18b that was irregularly used for the payment of salary arrears and increment for teachers and head teachers and the recruitment of health workers by districts in the financial year 2015/16.

An inquiry by Parliament’s Budget Committee revealed that money was reallocated by government agencies on the orders of the Secretary to the Treasury, Keith Muhakanizi, but the reallocations breached the Public Finance Management Act.

Mao has also urged Ugandans to embrace Islamic banking as one of the avenues that can help the country.
