Government says it has evidence linking Australian based Ugandan cardiologist Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi to the murder of two Muslim clerics.
In documents submitted to a Nakawa Court, the Director of Public Prosecutions said Kiyingi had taken advantage of the Muslim wrangles to taint government’s image.
State Prosecutor Anne Ntimba said Dr Kiyingi through the Federal Alliance rebel group linked to him recruited and offered logistical support to former ADF rebels who were allegedly hired to kill Sheikhs Mustapha Bahiga in Kampala and Abdul Kadhri Muwaya in Mayuge district.
Ntimba added that Dr Kiyingi had also met the group in the Kenyan capital Nairobi to accomplish his mission of causing hatred against the NRM government to pave the way for his perceived 2016 presidential bid.
Earlier, at the same court, the 18 people charged with the alleged killing of muslim clerics were committed to the High Court for trial after prosecution said investigations were complete.
11 of these have been slapped with fresh charges of supporting and recruiting Allied Democratic Forces rebels.
