Sports scribes under the Uganda Sports Press Association have elected Badminton player, Edwin Ekiring as the sports personality of the month.

Ekiring clinched the accolade after winning the Zambian International Badminton Open last month, beating Slovakia’s Alen Roj 21-18, 21-8 in the final.

Ekiring got 485 points beating off competition from motorcross rider, Maxime Van Pee on 455 points.

Maxime Van Pee won the MX 1 National Championship title with one race to go, as well as the 7th round of the National Motocross Championship beating legendary rider Arthur Blick Jr to the crown.

Vision Volleyball Club got 440 points for winning the NSSF volleyball league for the first time, while golfer Flavia Namakula managed 410 points after clinching two bronze medals at the World Military games in Bahrain.

Meanwhile, newly elected USPA President, Sabiiti Muwanga has named Ritah Aliguma as his deputy, becoming the first woman in the position.
