Electoral commission chairman Eng. Badru Kiggundu says the decision to extend presidential nomination dates was independently taken because no one can dictate to them.

Kiggundu also said that since nomination fees for presidential candidates have been raised to 20 million, candidates who had paid 8million shillings should pay the balance.

However nomination dates for parliamentary and local councils remain on the 2nd and 3rd December.

He also called for unity from all stakeholders to ensure that elections are free and fair.

Meanwhile the FDC has been the first party to book nomination for its candidate Dr. Kiiza Besigye.

We spoke to the FDC deputy electoral commission chief Michael Kabaziguruka
