“It’s true the Bishop has gone to be with the Lord; he succumbed to Covid-19, which he has been battling for two months,” Fr Mayanja  said in a telephone interview last evening.

Bishop Kaggwa retired in 2018 at the age of 75 and was succeeded by Bishop Severus Jjumba on July 6, 2019.
The deceased bishop will for long be remembered for promoting social-economic development and open remarks on governance and political issues.

In the run up last week’s General Elections, the deceased advised government to consider postponing  the polls  if aspiring candidates could not hold open air campaigns under the current coronavirus situation .

Under his stewardship, Masaka Diocese embraced many development projects, including construction of new schools, rental houses, farms and plantations and two shopping arcades.
