The High Court has acquitted former Vice President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya and the directors of Motor Care Uganda of any wrong doing in the CHOGM motorcycle purchase deal.
Justice Paul Mugamba has ruled that the prosecution failed to prove that they committed any offence.
The judge also observed that the state had failed to prove any connivance between Bukenya and Motor Care Uganda.
Prof. Gilbert Bukenya and the directors of Motor Care Uganda Klaus Karstensein and Per Lundgren were charged with abuse of office and fraudulent practice.
Bukenya was alleged to have connived to fraudulently award Motor Care Uganda Limited the contract to supply 80 police outrider motorcycles ahead of the Common Wealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2007.
The prosecution presented 4 witnesses to prove their case in vain.
The judge has now dismissed the charges and set the accused free.
