While handing over office today, Gen. Katumba said he regretted failure to do enough in improving the welfare of UPDF troops especially in terms of provision of decent accommodation.

He challenges his successor Gen. David Muhoozi to take on from where he has left and ensure this is achieved.

He however says he leaves very happy and proud to be without any blemish.

Meanwhile, the new Chief of Defense Forces Gen. David Muhoozi has pledged to ensure the country remains peaceful and stable.

In his acceptance speech at the handover ceremony in Mbuya, Gen Muhoozi saluted his predecessor for the strong foundation he has laid in the force vowing to continue with the good work.

While presiding over the handover ceremony, Gen Elly Tumwine has challenged the new team to ensure continued improvements of the force and not to disappoint the appointing authority and Ugandans.
